The sequence
A simple path through five decades.
Start slowly. It is better to pray attentively than to rush. Use physical beads, on-screen progress, a booklet, or Beadlight—the point is to have a gentle place to return when your attention wanders.
- 01Begin with the Sign of the Cross.
- 02Pray the Apostles' Creed, one Our Father, three Hail Marys, and one Glory Be.
- 03Announce the first mystery, then pray one Our Father.
- 04Pray ten Hail Marys while holding the mystery in mind, followed by a Glory Be.
- 05Repeat the mystery, Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and Glory Be pattern for four more decades.
- 06Finish with the Hail Holy Queen and the closing prayer.
Four sets of mysteries
Hold one moment in mind.
Each decade is connected to a mystery from the life of Jesus and Mary. A common weekly pattern is Joyful on Monday and Saturday, Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday, Glorious on Wednesday and Sunday, and Luminous on Thursday.
